Shunned on my home turf for the first time!

long story short -- my father-in-law and uncle-in-law came today to buy some appliances from a friend of ours.

while my father-in-law seemed willing to stretch the "necessary family business" clause to its limits to talk and joke and be basically human, my uncle was cold as a witch's dead penguin.

if i said anything to him related to the task at hand, he answered as minimally as possible.

Although It's not quite time for me to begin my evening drinking ritual, you can rest assured that when I do indeed crack that first beer of the evening I will tip my can in your honor!

They have started to shun my JW wife!

my poor wife has been quite stressed knowing what to do with her life.

she has never been intellectually interested enough to study whether the wts is the truth, just went because it seemed the best way of life and her family and friends are in it.

when i stopped going she did not know what to do wanting to keep both me and the congregation happy, and becamed fairly irregular at meetings and field service.

I suppose that it could be a good thing, right? Like you said, she'll see the hypocritical nature of JW's without you having to point it out and assuming the role of the bad guy.

Help! My parents want to take my daughter to meetings!

i have a problem that im hoping you can all help me with.. my daughter who is now 11 was devastated when we left.

she loved it, our fault we did everything by th book.

she wants to go to the meetings with my parents.

My JW mother is very good with my kids. In fact she’s one of the few that I feel is capable of watching all three of them for any given time. She feels especially close to my oldest 6 year old son. She will occasionally take him to her house for “special days” where he gets to spend an evening with Grandma and Grandpa and essentially get spoiled.

She’s been doing this for about two years since he was four or so. Since “special days” usually fall on Fridays or Saturdays when she is not working there is typically some type of JW activity going on the next morning. So for some time she was taking him to book studies, out in service, or to a meeting. At first I didn’t really mind because I felt that he was too young to really understand what they were teaching.

It didn’t take too long for my son to start bring me home tidbits of information regarding Jehovah and the bible, etc. About this same time I began to post on this forum and finished reading COC. I finally decided that I don’t want any of my children any where near a KH and had to confront my mother regarding what she does and where she goes with my son.

The other problem we had with her taking our son is that unless we firmly establish a time to have him home by she would keep him far longer than we desired. So last summer she was over and asked to take him on a Saturday evening. My wife and I agreed that it was OK and I asked her what time she would have him home the following Sunday? I suggested that she bring him home early, perhaps on her way to her meeting. She asked if she could keep him longer and take him to the meeting with her and I told her no. When she pressed me for my reasoning on this decision I informed her that I no longer wanted him anywhere near a KH as the WBTS is a false prophet in my opinion.

Needless to say, this turn of events certainly put some tension on my relationship with my mother. It has, however, made my desires clear and unquestionable. I still allow my son to have his beloved “special days” with my mother and she understands that these “special days” are not to be used for indoctrination.

So far so good. If problems arise, I’ll certainly post them here.

What do you think they'd do if I did this at the Memorial?

this year was going to be the first time in my life that i did not attend the memorial.

but i just thought of something that i would love to try out for a stir.

what do you think would happen if i skulled the entire glass of wine?

I’ve often thought about how humorous it would be to make a scene in the KH during the middle of a memorial talk or Sunday morning ~~programing~~ talk. When I say making a scene I’m thinking something along the lines of standing up in the middle of the KH or, better yet, walking right up on stage, taking the microphone hostage and begin to apostatize to the congregation.

When they try to escort me out of the KH I’ll refuse to go, I won’t let them touch me. I’ll be very vocal and threaten them with legal action if they even lay a finger on me. I’ll tell them that if they want me gone they’re going to have to call the police and have them escort me out. I don’t think they’d do that though. I think that the ~~drones~~ brothers would gang up on me and drag me out the back door kicking and screaming.

Always and entertaining day dream.

what if you knew for a fact they knew who you were and they were tracking you, would it change the way you post now?.

I dont think I would change at all. The only JW family member I have is my mother and I'm at the point with here where I dont hold anything back.

first time ever a 6th seed team has won the first two games of the playoffs.

My kids get a kick out of how loud and obnoxious I get on Sundays during football games. They’re not to the age yet where they enjoy the game but the certainly enjoy daddy making a fool of him self. LOL.

Why do you read the Literature?

as a non-jw why do you read the society's literature.

i do it because it saves me money, i dont have to buy comedy dvd's to have a laugh.

I dont read the literature at all except for an occasional "comments you wont hear" thread. I think there's an upcoming WT on the dangers of apostacy that Im certainly looking forward to reading though.
